  1. The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. A quorum was noted. Officers and guests were introduced.
  2. Guests Bill Bennett and Ed, from the Boat Shop, announced that the Boat Shop is now under new management and would like to find ways to better serve the PHRF fleet.
  3. The minutes of the July 13 meeting were not available, and were not read and approved.

    1. 46574 Mon Amie, Ben 42F-2 not a tall rig. Standard rig reassigned rating 90/90. (Regional to review Ben 42 designations.
    2. Schock 35 first reading.
      1. Comments by Dennis Case:
        a. Not enough current data to reconsider rating.
        b. The local fleet contains the top boats in the nation.
        c. The crews on the top boats have many years experience.
      2. Comments by Wild Thing crew members:
        a. J-35 won NOOD against four Schock 35s.
        b. Not competitive against well sailed J-35.
        c. Prefer to be removed from class 2.
      3. Motion for local adjustment of –6 did not carry. No further action.
    1. CF-27 first reading. Reviewed 1997-1998 race results data sheet submitted by Ken Gust. Local adjustment from –6 to –12 MSP.

  2. New Secretary to replace Buzz Remde – Mike McGinty.
    New Chief Handicapper to replace Drew Freides - Scott Graham.
  3. Dan Harlan pointed out that Class 2 is not represented on the board. Dan Nowlan took note of this.
  4. 1998 Area G Championship Regatta:
    Dan Nowlan suggested that SDYC share RC responsibility and swap parties with SWYC.
    SWYC – Offered to sponsor party and on the water activities.
    SDYC – Also offered to sponsor party and on the water activities.
    Recommendation to have SWYC run 1998 Area G Championship Regatta - MSP.
    Recommendation to rotate Area G Championship Regatta annually between SWYC and SDYC – MSP.
  5. Membership Application and Local Fleet Roster.
    Discussion on best way to handle membership application and roster.
    Recommendation to issue PHRF membership renewal and application locally, collect dues locally and forward Regional dues to Regional, and maintain local fleet roster locally – MSP.
  6. Owner Driver Rule for 1998 Area G Championship Regatta – discussion moved to next meeting.

  7. Report from regional meeting
    1. MIR - owner recommendation rejected.
    2. Offset definition removed from Section M. Does not make sense. Will be resubmitted.
    3. Recommendation to allow dual headsails downwind approved.
    1. Other reports postponed to next meeting.
